We were caught in a sudden snow storm that left us stranded in Lanivet. My son and I were with my 86year old mother and we desperately needed somewhere warm to stay for the night. A lovely meal at The Lanivet Inn led us to find out about the abbey. Rick and Jenny were excellent hosts and helped many stranded people that night. The beds were comfortable and everything nice and clean. We had a lovely sleep. Rick himself, donned an apron to cover the breakfasts the next morning as the chef couldnt get into work. We were rather sorry when the snow began to melt and the roads were passable again! They are new owners and look like they are going to achieve some wonderful improvements to this historic building and we wish them much luck with their venture!
Good food/comfortable clean accommodation /friendly staff/private car park and lovely grounds.
B&B near Bodmin. Old world's with excellent pub down the road. Very convenient for Eden, Heligon and Lanhydroc
I stayed here for one night during a walking holiday. My room was in the annex, which I was a bit disappointed about when I saw it on my itinerary, as the prospect of staying in such a beautiful and historical building was exciting to me, but as soon as I stepped into my spacious, clean, comfortable room, any trace of disappointment was wiped away! It was quiet and private- I slept so well with not a noise to disturb me. (The road out front is busy but quiets down at night and doesnt disrupt the peace). And I still got to enjoy the beauty of the historical main building for my breakfast and there is a nice lounge available for guests. The location is just a short, flat walk from the bus stop, convenience store, and restaurants. The gardens surrounding the abbey are lovely, and theres a little stream that runs in front. What really stood out was the kindness absolutely outstanding customer service of the staff. On short notice, I asked if I could have a simple breakfast left out for me so I could check out early and get a very early start in the morning. I would have been happy with just making tea from the hospitality tray in my room and a pastry or bread and some fruit left out overnight. Instead, two hours before breakfast was served, my host provided me with a full continental breakfast including a pot of tea, hot toast, yogurts, cereal with milk, and lots of fruit, as well as her company while I ate, and several inquiries if I needed anything else. It was more than I expected and asked for, and far above and beyond what she had to do. Many thanks!
We stayed here for one night whilst visiting the Eden Project. A very well kept Abbey house, with some truly unique rooms. The facilities were immaculate and the beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was very generous, offering a cold buffet to start off with, whilst your hot food is cooked fresh to order. I would certainly recommend this place.
